Big Bear Lake is one of the most popular mountain destinations in Southern California only 2 hour drive from Los Angeles, San Diego and 1 ½ hrs from Palm Springs. Perfect for a getaway vacation with lots of things to do on and off the water. While you could always just relax and enjoy the mountain air and the scenery from the cabin you might want to take advantage of a few of the opportunities the city has to offer.  

 

From boating, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, kayaking or water skiing on the lake, to alpine downhill mountain biking down the slopes, to ziplining in the summer and winter months Big Bear has it all. With 22 miles of shoreline to jog or cycle around and the 4WD trails up the mountain while some of your crew is out enjoying golfing. The activities are endless for you and your family to enjoy at the Cozy Moon Cabin.

On the Lake

Although many folks think of Big Bear as a ski destination, summer is completely different – and full of its own charm and outdoor beauty.  Activities around the 22 miles of lake include fishing, paddle boarding, pontoon boating, kayaking, jet skiing and yes swimming.  Boats and equipment can be rented at any one of the marinas.

Alpine Slide 

As visitors come up to Big Bear you'll notice The Alpine slide area it's a landmark of drivers coming into town. Riders navigate their own individually controlled brake sleds, tracks filled with high-banked turns and fun straightaway in the mastic mountainside. They have activities for summer and winter too!

Big Bear Zoo

The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is one of two Alpine zoos in the United States. One of the cool things specializes in rehab and release of local Alpine species and also has a permanent collection of animals in their zoo. It was located across the street from Bear Mountain Ski Resort and only 1 mile from our cabin.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Big Bear is a mecca for downhill mountain biking and hosted national races including the NORBA National Championship Series. Big Bear’s downhill terrain has been ridden by professional riders and recreational weekend warriors alike.

 

Big Bear Lake is Southern California's mecca of cycling and mountain biking. The network of downhill mountain bike trails at Tamarack gives riders plenty of options for downhill riding. Take a ride up Snow Summit Bike Park's chairlift and take you and your bike to the top of the mountain to access bike trails. If you don't have your own bike, pick up a rental at one of the local shops in The Village.

ZIPLINE & Adventure Tours

Ziplining is one of many exciting ways to experience Big Bear year-round, whether it’s summer or winter. The three hour tour includes an off-road ride two miles into the forest, with nine sensational high-speed zipline lines that run down Big Bear mountain for the most avid thrill-seekers.
